The Academician Workstation of Shanghai Advanced Research in Physical sciences  SHARPS) was approved to establish in 2023. The academician team is led by Ho-Kwang Mao,  Academician of the American Academy of Sciences and Foreign Academician of CAS, together with 12 members. The "SHARPS Academician Workstation" focuses on the key field of new materials, relying on high-voltage synchrotron radiation X-ray technology to undertake key scientific research tasks in three major research directions: multidimensional control of amorphous materials, exploration of ultra diamond hardness materials, and design and development of new functional materials.
