The main research interest of Cheng Ji is static ultrahigh pressure studies.including synchrotron crystallography of solid hydrogen and metallic hydrogenat extreme compression, syntheses of novel phases of elements andcompounds at extreme conditions (high pressure, high temperature, andhigh shear stress), and technical improvements for better ultrahigh pressure in-situ characterizations, etc.
